The annual conference of .the Oonntiry Press Association opened to-flay.. The report of the executive, referring to the manufacture of newsprint; stated that satisfactory progress had been made during the year and it #as now safe to state that paper-pulp could be nroduced%in Australia of. a better quality and at:a cheaper, rate, than .in any other .place.» The secretary of" tho Association would be sent to the Em» pire Exhibition to try to interest .British manufacturers in the jestablishmerit of mills, in Australia, which would mean n reduction in- the .cost of paper to £l9 sterling per ton. .
