LICENSING COMMITTEE.
QUARTERLY MEETING, The quarterly meeting of the Christchurch Licensing Committee was held yesterday at noon. Present—Messrs H. Y. Widdowson, S.M. (chairman), H. Holland, K. Mathieson, H. H. Wauchop and R. M. Speirs. The chairman stated that according to the police report all the hotels had been well conducted during the last quarter. The following new licenses were granted: Queen's Hotel, John McKay (Mr C. A. Stringer), Tattersall's Hotel, Arthur Rose; Waltham Arms Hotel, A. J. Lambert; Star Hotel, Herbert Farmer (Mr L. L. Sitchings). Renewals were granted as follows:—Lancaster Park Hotel, Joseph Bryan (Mr F. 1. Cowlishaw), Masonic Hotel, William Brown (Mr C. A. Stringer); Gladstone Hotel, JP. Anderson (Mr Cowlishaw), Wellington Hotel, W. C. Evans (Mr M. J. Burns). The following transfers were granted: Caf*de Paris. C. A. Tulloch to J. C. Oldrid=e (Mr G. T. Weston);' Rotherfield Hotel. Percy Curtis to H. W. H. Piper < Mr C. H. Holmes), A.l. Hotel, Morgan O'Bnen to F M Drewitt; Wellington H«tel, .W. C. Evans' to G. F. Webster Mr M. J. Bums); Club Hotel, A. J. Lawrence to Fred. C. Andrews. , The license of the Star Hotel was ernnted on condition that alterations the Committee had ordered were commenced within four ■weeks. ■
