NORTH CANTERBURY ASSOCIATION.

The 3let -annual meeting of the North Canterbury Cricket Association was held at Rangier* on Friday. Delegates were present from tho Rangiora, View Hill, Oxford, Oust, Horrelville, Swannanoa, Eyieton, Ohoka, Woodend, .Amberley, Loburn, and Settoa Clubs. Mr H. A. Bennett presided. The committee in their report stated that the last season was a very successful one. Playing against the City and Suburban Association, the representative team won the Bub-Association's Bhieid by an irungs and tweivo runs, . 1). C. -.-xon wiin tho bat and ball, and J. H. C. Nion, J. Bennett, and W. Maokerill, and bowling of Nixon, .Bennett and Macicerill being too good for tho challengers. 'lke juniors played two matches with tho Boys' Association and lost both. In tais conntx.on the committee recommended the incoming committee to arrange more games for the juniors to encourage them to qualify for senior play. The senior competition was div.ded into East and West sections. Six teams played in each section and Wodena won the the eastern and View Hill the western. Playing off tho final, Viow Hill defeated Woodend by an innings and 8 runs and won the cup in the club's first season's play with the Association for which feat thoy were heartily congratulated by the committee.. The junior cup was won by the Rangiora team with 26 points, Amberley coming second with 17 points., This was a highly creditable performance by a team composed mostly of young playerß, and the committee offered its warm congratulations. It was remarked that if the Association was going to play tho other associations for the siield some means of improving the state of its funds would have to be found. The committee thanked the umpires and scorers tor their services, the Rangiora Club for the use of their ground, and the Sefton Club for the use of their matting for the representative and final cup matches. The balance-sheet showed receipts £25 17s 5d and expenditure £2l 7s sd. The assets were £2O Sb and liabilities nil. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. Officers for the year were elected as follows: —Patrons, Hon. D. Buddo, M.P.,-and Mr G. W. Forbes, M.P.; president, Mr H. A. Bennett; vice-presidents, the presidents of affiliated clubs with Messrs G. Cudby, J. McCluro, J. Quigg, and H. M. Hawkins; committee, Messrs J. Ballinger, P. Pulley, 0. Y. A. Johnstone, N. Fidler, and P. Sheat; selectors, Messrs H. Bennett and P. G. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr T. S. Hanna.

It was decided to again divide play between East and ■ West districts, two day senior cup matches, and one day junior to be played by the East section, and one day matches by both senior and junior in the west section. A vote of thanks was passeu to the officers for their services during the season, special mention being made of the _ secretary, Mr Hanna, to whom an honorarium of S guineas was voted. It was decided to open Jths cup competition in the "Western district on September 15th, and in the eastern on September 29th.
