LOSS OF THE SUMATRA.
MARITIME UNIONS' DEMAND. (BY CABLE —PEE 9EI ASSOCIATION —COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTRALIAN AND K.Z. CABLff ASSOCIATION.) SYDNET. July 10. A conference of representatives of the maritime unions representing 33,000 members, carried resolutions demanding a Royal Commission to enquire into the foundering of the Sumatra and other vessels, with power to cover every activity in relation to shipping; also that it be an instruction to all members immediately to notify the secretary of their union of anything of a suspicious nature tending to mate a vessel unseaworthy.
