MR E. A. BELCHER'S EMOLUMENTS. (NY CABLE —PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (AUSTHAIIAS AND H.Z. CABLE A.BSOCIATIOX.) (Received July 10th, 11.46 p.m.) LONDON, July 9. In the House of Commons Mr A. Buckley, Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department, answering a question regarding the cost of Mr E. A, Belcher's visit to •Sew Zealand in connexion with the British Empire Exhibition, said Mr Belcher's salary was £I7OO a year, plus an entertainment allowance of £SOO. He understood that an expenditure of £4OS was incurred by Mr Belcher's mission, consisting of four persons, during their stay in New Zealand from July ,3t'd to August 29th last year. The visit formed part of a tour of all the Dominions. It was difficult, therefore, to estimate what proportion of the cost of the mission's oversea transport should be allocated to the New Zealand visit.
