The mild form of influenza which has been prevalent in Timaru for some weeks now has taken such a heavy toll of the attendance at the Tmaru Boys' High School that the school was closed at noon to-day until next Monday morning. The prevalence of influenza has become increasingly worse since Friday, the attendance to-day having; been affected to the extent of 100 absentees, 50 of whom were day boys. About 20 of the boarders are now iaici up with the ailment. In view of these circumstances it was decided to close the school for a few davs. The Girls' High School attendance has not suffered to such a great extent, it being estimated that about 10 per cent, of the pupils are absent. The position is not considered so serious as to necessitate the closing of the school. The Main School has been affected to the' extent of 105 absentees on Monday, • though the position improved somewhat to-day.
