WATER SUPPLY.

PROPOSED EXTENSIONS. At the meeting of the City Council last night Cr. F. R. Cooke asked what was being done in the matter of completing the high-pressure water supply service throughout the city, in view of the sewerage extensions. Cr. A. Williams said the drainage extension scheme would not be held up by reason cf the absence of the high pressure water, for _new sawers would be Laid first/ in those parts of the city which already had the water. He would give the reason why the water supply proposal had been postponed. ' , Cr. F. R. Cooke: You bungled the matter. Or. Williams: No. We postponed it because some on your side wanted to use the water supply as an election dodge. Cr. J. K. Archer: I hope that does not apply to me. Cr. Williams: No. Cr. Archer has been a loval attendant at Water Supply Committee meetings, and he did splendid service on that committee. . Cr. Williams aded that when the Finance Committee and the Water Supply Committee had concluded their conference on tht> water supply scheme the proposal would be put to the ratepayers.
