The results of the p'.ay in the North Canterbury Sub-Union competitions on Saturday were as follows: SENIORS. Cust defeated Oxford by 8 pcinto to 3. Referee, ilr K. Flutey. Kowai defeated Waikari by 16 points to 8. Referee, Mr H. Croft, Omihi-Scargill defeated Amberley by 6 points to 5. Referee, llr G. Bruce. JUNIORS. Oxford defeated Omihi by 12 points to nil. Amberley defeated Kowai by 9 points to 3. PENINSULA SUB-UNION. Little River's victory over Little Akaloa on Saturday by 9 points to 8 has placed tho senior competition for tho Banner in a very interesting position. Three teams are now running level, with one defeat each, Akaroa and tha two already named. HURUNUI SUB-UNION. The Hurunui Sub-Union's competitions were continued on Saturday, when the Cheviot teams, senior and junior, played the Waiau teams at Waiau. The junior game proved a very even contest, and resulted in a win for Waiau by 8 points to 3. Mr M. Stalker was referee. The senior game wa3 fast and willing from start to finish, both, packs of forwards playing with jreat determination. In the first spell Waiau had rather the better of the game and put on 8 points—tries scored by M. Macfariana and W. Dando, tho first of which was converted by C. Deans. Early in tho second spell N. Foster again scored for Waiau from a forward rush. The Cheviot backs then took a hand and C. Barnes scored a try, which ha converted. For of time Waiau was kopt busily defending, but tha defence was sound, and all further attacks on their line were repelled, and tha game onco more Bettled down into a battle royal between tha forwards. No further score was registered and tho game ended: Wniou 11 points, Cheviot 6. Mr G. "W. Aldridge was referee.
