OBITUARY.
MR A. NORTH. (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGBAU.J DUNEDIN, June 14. Mr Alfred North, aged 64, prominently identified with local politics 'in South Otago, died suddenly this afternoon. He represented South Molyueux riding on the Clutha County Council for many years, and was chairman last year. He was also a inemDer of the South Otago Hospital Board, and was its first chairman. He leaves a widow and family of nine, seven of whom are married'. Mr James Taylor Croker, whose death was announced in yesterday's "Press," was highly respocted and well known in Wellington business cireles. The late Mr Croker, who was accountant of the Head Office of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, was 62 years of age, and commenced his business Career in 1877, when he entered tho service of the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, at Auckland. During his career he held many important positions with the company, and had occupied for the past six years that of accountant in the Head Office at Wellington. The late Mr Croker leaves a widow and two sons—Mr Cyril Croker, solicitor, New Plymouth, and Mr Basil Croker, solicitor, Wellington. His eldest son, Eric, was killed in the Great War. By the death of Eatu Alekisadro ■ Savanaca Seniloli, Fiji loses her highest hereditary chief, and a very fine old gentleman. The late Eatu was over six feet in height, and of a most courteous demeanour, and he was greatly esteemed by Europeans and natives alike. He was born at the old capital of Bau in 18G6. Tho deceased was the highest or senior chief of Bau. He had been in the Civil Service since 1891, when he was appointed native stipendiary magistrate. For a number of years he had been a Native Lands Commissioner, and he carried out his important duties with great credit and efficiency.
