PARISHIONERS' MEETINGS.

ST. MARY'S, HALSWELL,

At the annual meeting of St. Mary's Church, Halswell, the vicar presided over <a iaii attendance.

The balance-sheet showed a deficit of £i, mainly due to decreased collections. The vicar, in his report, speko of the decrease, regretting the carelessness of attendance, which, he said, spoiled enthusiasm one! caused a deficit on ordinary account. The good work of Mr Brandon as warden, of the choir and of- the Sunday School, under Mis 3 Campion, wan referred to appreciatively. The combined fairs with Spreydoii had been most successful. The vicarage was put in good ordej and St. Mary's Bepairs ■Fund had a credit of £6O.

Mr Brandon, on behalf of the parishioners, welcomed Mrs Oldhain, and Miss Edith Savage, and on behalf of the Sunday School teachers and scholars, presented the vicar with a handsome hot water jug, on the occasion of his marriage. Tho following offioers were appointed:— Wardens, Messrs Brandon and C. Gardiner; vestry, Moasra J. and B. Templeton, "Wright, Amyes, Blowers, E. Bidder, E. Brandon, It Preb-ble and Mesdamea Templeton and Kogers.

ST. MARTIN'S, SPREYDON.

The annual meeting of the parishioner.! of St. Martin's, Spreydon, was held in the schoolroom. Tho Rev. C. C. Oldham presided over a very large attendance. The balance-sheets weiia very eatisfaclory. The offertories showed a slight decrease from ' the previous ' yenr, but subscriptions vrere lurger. The total receipts on ordinary account wore the largest the parish had ever lind, and that was greatly increased by extm efforts. After £99 had been put aside flora the fairs, £SO remained to go to tho Sunday School Extension Fund, so that the parish onlyi needed a loan of £llO. The> enlarged cchool, a very good, and convenient building, fbe report stated, was opened by Archdeacon Taylor. The guilds, choir, and Sunday echool had done good work, aa also had the clubs and Boys' Bible Class. During the evening Mr Muloock presented t!jo virar with a wnllet of tiotes from the parishioners. Mrs Oldham was also given a nine present by Mr Smail, on behaJi of the choir.

The following officers were Appointed: Wardens, Messrs Brown and Eden; veetry, Messrs Ward, Muloock, Matliao; Bloor, Sraail, D. Merrett, L. Steel, Yeatman, D. Neave, Mathews.
