HOCKEY.
MATCHES POSTPONED. Owing to tie bad weather and unplayable grounds on Saturday, all competition mutches under the jurisdiction of the Canterbury Hockey Association were postponed. METHVEN LADIES" CLUB. The annual meeting of the Methven Ladies' HouKi/y (Juib> was neid on Thursday evening, Air »'. H. I'ascoo presiding over » goad a-tier.da.uce. The annual balance-sheet and report showed that thv> Club had had a most successful year as regards both finance and play. A credit balance of £S 14s was shown. The report stated that the Ciub had lost dining the year many oi its best playing members, and all present were urged to make every endeavour to replace those members who had left the district, by securing as many new members as possible. Special mention was made of the splendid work done during; the season by the coach, Mi Pascoe. Thepresidont, Mrs Goodwin, it was stated had done highly commendable work, iboth on the ground and at social functions. Tho election of officers for the ensuing year resulted as follows:—Patron, Mrs James Goodwin; president, Mrs Morgan; vicepresidents, Mesdames H. McGirr, Angus McKay, C. J. Crooks, A. Baxter, J. O. Grubb, John, "Wisely, S. Smith, P. W. Bnddonklau, J. McD. Anderson, W. H. McKeo; captain, Miss Middleton; vice-captain, Miss M. Hewson; coach, Mr W. H. Pascoe; secretary and treasurer, Mr P. A. Anderson ; _ committee, Mesdames A. Lawrence, E Newman, L. Burrows, W. Dixon and Misses Briden, I. Anderson, J. McKay, W. Lowery, M. Duff, G. Hewson, M. McOu]locb, Hampton and Messrs W. H. Paecoe> D. Daves, D. Wright, O. Hynarn, F. H. Glnsson and D. Anderson.
It was decided that the Club's colours be black and white. Miss Briden and Miss McOulloch were elected life members of the Club, and it was decided that a small presentation bo made to these ladies for their services dvu> ing severa.l years.
It was decided that a deputation wait on the Domain Board as its next meeting l regarding the allotment of grounds for playing, etc. A special vote of thanks was accorded Mpsitb W. H. 'Pascoe (coach) a.nd F. A. Anderson (secretary and treasurer), and to the chair.
