MB J. M. MADDEN. An artist of considerable merit, Mr Jlhn Macintosh Madden, died recently it his residence, Otahuhu, Auckland, it/the Bgfl ot 67. Ho was born at Wakefield, Yorkshire, and at a very liriy age displayed a marked genius ftrpainting, and was sent to study lithe South Kensington School of Ait. where ho won many diplomas. About 1893 he founded the Palette Club in Christjiiirth, which proved a great boon to [(he artists of those days.
