Mr Neville Chamberlain, speakingto the Alliance of Employers and Employed at Birmingham, bemoaned the signs of a revival of industrial strife. The disputes, he«said, seemed senseless and suicidal to the i publicj. because, while depleting the resources of the parties, they ended in compromises which might have been secured without stoppages of work.
