Your correspondent very. unfair imi)ression of the writing with evident bias and judice. Sportsmen know that fojp "|uq past fiftjr years the' North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society ■ has. preeenvect and fostered <*ame for them, and not until 1922 did the society ask the shooting men to pay a penny, payinfr their rangers, etc., put of thio fishing licenses, and now sportsmen complain about, the 10s fee. I think that the society is to bo congratulated in haw ing,. after many years trying, this game license imposed, the majority of .shooters being satisfied to pay $ just due. It may be unnecessary to mention the part the society took in regard to {he abolition of cylinder shooting, or the preservation of game in getting the various sanctuaries gazetted, or the closed season to further effect' these objects. Did the society have the support of Mr Donald in these matters? Mr Donald catechises the society unfairly—Yours, etc.. • L. A. SHAND. ■ 104 Rugby street. Merivale, ' ' April 24th, 1923.
