LOAN PROPOSALS CARRIED. LARGE NUMBER OF INFORMAL VOTES. The proposal to raise a loan ot £35,000 for the concert chamber was submitted to the ratepayers yesteidaj, mid the poll resulted in the proposal being carried by a majority of 11 -• There were, however, no fewer than 10%' informal votes cast, and the result of the poll must be, of necessity, in doubt to a certain extent until it is ascertained that all the informal vo -si have been properly allowed, this will not be known until the scrutiny ot the vote has been completed. The proposal on which the ratepayers voted yesterday was to raise a special loan of £30,000 for tho puiposes: (1) To rebuild, remodel, and enlnrgo the. promises formerly comprised in tna Alexandra Hall and its adjuncts, anrl other offices on that part of tho Connoil's land in Manchester street adjoining the municipal offices now in course of erection; (2) to supply all things necessary or incidental thereto, including the necessary furnishings. The voting was as follows: —

The total number of ratepayers who voted on the proposal, valid and invalid votes inoluded, was 12,235. The largest number of invalid) votes recorded at one polling booth was at the Rugby street, St. Albans, booth, where 69 informal votes were recorded. At one booth, in the Linwood, Bromley, and Woolston area 68 invalid votes were recorded ; and at one booth in tho Sydenham and Spreydon area 4'7 informal votee were recorded.
