A HELP TO STARTING.

ELECTRICAL FLOODING DEVICE There would appear to be no limits to the possible uses of electricity in j the service of the motorist for timesaving and convenience. As an. instance, the flooding of the carburetter at starting in the usual manner is, at . timeSj troublesome, as it means lifting j the* bonnet. This trouble has been en- | tirely avoided in an electrical attach- I ment which has recently oeen invented and which needs but the pressure of a button on ith© dash to actuate the needle-valve of the carburetter. The principle of this device (.which incidentally, is named the G-emmy) is the use of an electro-magnet fitted in an adjustable mount, .which can be readily . clamped to the carbureter. The usual projecting piece of needle-valve at the top of the float chamber is provided , with a small iron cap, and the lower pole of the magnet is adjusted so as to clear it by an eighth of an inch orso: consequently, when the magnet is energjsad by the current on pressing the button, it lifts up the needle-valve, or it can be arranged to depress the needle-valve, as desired. There are no wearing parts, and the device can oe operated, from the usual lighting and starting accumulator or from a small dry battery.
