Three bulletins dealing with matters of moment to the Commonwealth are iu the hands of the printer. They relate to the production of liquid fuels in Australia from brown coal and oil shale; the manufacture of paper pulp from Australian trees, and to the scientific problems of the viticultural industry. The bulletins are the result of research by the Commonwealth Institute of Science and Industry. The experiments in manufacture of paper pulp 6how, it is stated, that a high grade of paper can be manufactured from Australian trees on a commercial basis, provided that certain economic factors can be satisfactorily dealt with. It is expected that the paper pulp industry may be set on foot in Australia before long. _ The Institute proposes to continue its investigations with a view to., finding a solution of the problem of the manufacture of newsprint from Australian trees.
