Fisher Unwin and Co. have published an interesting book hy W. R. Humphries. entitled "Patrolling in Papua," with an introduction by Judge Murray, who pays a tribute to the extraordinary efficient but insufficiently appreciated work done by magistrates and patrol officers in Papua. Mr Humphries rivid- -- .• tribes expeditions' to Kereniaand Morobe, in German New Guinea. He was the first to work out a definite route across the territory from sea to sea. An additional attraction of the book lies in the description of the character of the country, customs of the tribes, and the daily work of the patrol officers.
