The detention is retrospective from the date of seizure. SOVIET RULE. AUSTRALIAN OPINION. SYDNEY, April 24. Mr Garden, secretary of the Labour Council, has returned from a visit to Russia. His views regarding the Soviet methods of government are materially modified. He declares that it is the only form of government suitable to Russia, but it is unsuitable to Australia, which is much further advanced than Russia. The Soviet system of school education, however, was the finest in the world. TREATf WITH DENMARK. (Received April 25th, 5.5 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, April 23. The Danish-Russian agreement' has been signed at Moscow. It establishes definite de facto relations, and allows mutual representation by resident delegations, also Danish trading in Russia with security against the obligation to surrender property without full compensation. The question of citizens' claims to compensation or restitution was discussed, but no agreement was reached.
