WHY ARE ST. SAVIOUR'S ADVERTISING ? * It can be safely assumed that nobody will hesitate to subscribe to St. Saviour's Orphanages once they appreciate the wonderful good such institutions effect in the interest of a self-respect-ing community. It is also true that only a very small -proportion of the people of Canterbury properly knows of the noble work done by tflis Institution t» buccoui'j and relieve the orphaned and destitute children of this province. To launch a succesful appeal, it waa obvious that St. Saviour's must reach the hearts of all Canterbury people by placing them in possession of a full knowledge of the facts. It then remained to use the quickest and most effective method of doing this. Every method was exhaustively investigated before the decision was leached that no better medium could be used than the one which readies every home every day. At first glance tne cost of St. Saviour's advertisement-s may appear large, especially as money is so intently needed for additional buildings. But when the cost of newspaper advertising is compared with that of sending printed matter through the post, or the value of the time that would be lost il each honorary collector had to explain the noble work done by tile Orphanages and how funds for extra buildings were urgently needed, then it would be found that the cost of newspaper ad- j vertising is infinitesimal compared with other ways of placing the position before the public. No subscriber to St. Saviour's Orphanages need fear that any money is being wasted in this appeal. To the contrary, everything j s done in a proper, businesslike way. Tile preparation of the advertisements have been entrusted to the leading advertising agency in Christchurch, tho Central Committee exercise careful supervision over all expenditures, nnd it only remains for the general public to voice their appreciation of this noblest of i charities by subscriptions in keeping with theif positions in the jcommunity. —3
