BIG MEN ON HORSEBACK.
A UNIQUE RACE AT WILD WEST CARNIVAL. It is understood that some of 'the leading heavy-weight members of. the oommunity, in oluding one or two well-known figures in Hereford and Cashel etreeis, have entered for tho Draught Horse Trot svt the Canterbury A. and P. Association's Wild West Carnival at the Show Grounds on Saturday. This raoe alone should be a pionio in itself, but it is only one of the many interesting features. To stem! aJi expression irom the "movies," the Wild VVest Carnival will comprise an all-star oast. Thrills innumerable should be provided in tho Buck Jumping contest on wild outlaw horses and wild bullocks, and a game of many thrills should be the big Bugby clash between the two leading senior teams Marists and liinwood, which will also eventuate at the Carnival. The Big Stock Drive will be full of interest and humour, and there will be innumerable competitions, side shows and other specialties, which will provide 4t happy day's entertainment for the many thousands who are expected to be present at the Show-. Grounds. Popular prices only are being charged—viz.: la for adults and 6d for children. The convenience of the publio is being catered for by special refreshment booths and special tram services and excursion The following is the programme for the Highland Dancing, eto., for which post entries will be received: Highland E'ling, 12 years and under; Seanii Triubhais, 12 years and under; Highland Heel, 15 yca.r3 and under; Sailors Hor pipe, open; Irish Jig, open; Sword ■under. . This "Wild West Carnival ia being: run under the auspices of the> Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association with the assistance o-f the Commercial Travellers' wid "Warehousemen's Association, and must not be considered to have any connexion with the show advertised last year.
