Gray Dixon in. the Excelsior Hall last evening ' on "Japan and the was most interesting, and of a high educational value. Mr Dixon, who was formerly Professor ot English at the Imperial College of Engineer- ' ing, Tokyo, ia a life member of the Asiatio Society of Japan, and the author of "The Land of the Morning. He speaks, therefore, as an authority on the Japanese, and in the lecture revealed much of what lies beneath the surface as distinct from the mere impressions gained by the casual traveller.
