McDonald has resigned from the management of the Kaikoura Motor Company, following the reconstruction, but "retains his position as director of the White Star service, ue purposes organising a new motor service aa a co-operative concern. The following will represent the Kaikoura Club: —Mrs Warner, Miss Barry, Miss Keys-Wells, Mrs Flower, Miss Wayland, Miss Flower, Miss Vale, Mrs Ogden, Mrs Borthwick, Messrs Gibson, Robinson, Howard, Flower, Miller, Smith, Warner, and Maine. A public meeting was held to revise the rules of the Suburban Hall Society. Mr G. I>. Smith occupied the chair. It was decided to vest the property in the Suburban Hall Society. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Raymond Gibson for attending the meeting and explaining the legal points in connexion with the rules. The committee reported on the financial success'of the dance recently held, and it was decided to bold another danced _ The vast improvement in the Kaikoura bowling green this year was remarked on by the Blenheim bowlers, who visited Kaikoura during the weekend. Mr F. J, Elvy, the Blenheim president, who is regarded as something of an authority on bowling greens, is of opinion that the Kaikoura green, in the course of a year or two, will be second to none in Now Zealand. , MARSHLAND. The Merrymakers' concert party visited Marshland and gave a concert ia aid of the Nazareth House Orphanage. There was a very largo attends snce. The orchestra, under • Miss Dorothy Wicks, providod excellent music. T]je concert was under the direction of Mr F. A. Maling, and the programme was considerably lengthened by the number oncores demanded. The fallowing contributed items:— Misses M.Greenlees, A. Father O'Connell briefly addressed the audience, and expressed his gratitude to the Merrymakers and all who helped to make the evening a success, thereby assisting the, good cause for which it was arranged. After refreshments had ' been -handed round, dancing was in a dulged in for the remainder of the night. ' Messrs Hibbard and Blackburn Supplied the music, and Mr T. Quaid officiated as M.O. The married men. o.f Ouruhia tried conclusions .with the "single men at Cricket in ; Mr T. Borcoskie's paddock last Saturday afternoon. Tho game was very even aft through, and many exciting incidents' occurred. The result was a win for the single men by nine runs, The ;chief scorers for the married men were E. H. Ashby 15, and H. Wilson 12. For the single men, E. Spencer scored 22, and D. Miller 12. The most successful bowlers for the winners were 3D. King and L. Spencer, arid for the losers V. Wareing, P. P. George, E. H. Ashby, and E. A. Stead. A combined team will play Marshland at Ouruhia on Saturday next. ' , SOUTH MAI/VERN DISTRICT. A meeting of considerable interest, to Glentunnel was held in the public hall on Saturday night.- This was the annual meeting of the Glentunnel Do- ■ main Board, the election of a new Bdard for a term of sevtu years, and the election of a Hall Committee for the ensuing twelve months. Mr H. Eollinson, chairman of the present Board, presided over a very gratifying attendance, including a few ladies. The balance-sheet showed that both the Domain and the Public Hall had had a successful year. Omitting shillings and pence, the earnings of the Domain were £64, while the expenditure, which included new : fencing and purchase of trees, was £sl. The hall account showed receipts £175, and expendiwas working* expenses. The general account showed a credit balance of £74 10s. The hall was entirely free of debt except for ii sum of £53, which -was owing on the piano. In addition to the ordinary work on the Domain, a large part was replanted with trees and securely fenced to keep out stock.
