PICNICS.

INSURANCE COMPANIES. The annual picnic of the oombined Insurance Companies was held at the Selwyn Hute. The weather conditions were Weal and a very enjoyable time was spent by the 200 people present. Music was supplied by Mr Bidgood's Orchestra. Owing to the unavoidable absence of Mr J. R. Cameron, chairman of the Canterbury Fire Underwriters' ■Association, prizes were presented to the winners of the various sports events by Mr K. W. Robinson, -vice-chairman, of the Association. On Saturday the National Electrical and Engineering Company, Ltd., held their annual picnic at Charteris Bay, Mr Orton Bradley generously granting the use of a portion of hiß property. Although the weather was somewhat threatening in the city when the party left, the day turned out perfect, and a particularly enjoyable time was spent. The Christchurch Clothing Factory (White and Myhre) held their annual picnio at Stewart's Gully, when the employees an°their trends, numbering about pne hundred and fifty, assembled.
