GREYMOTTTH, February 27.

A meeting of the Ngahere branch of the Farmers' Tnion discussed the branch's financial position, which was declared satisfactory. Three new members were admitted, making the branch among the strongest numerically on the Coast.

The stone recently struck in the level of the North" Big Eiver Co.'s mine (says the "Tnangahua Times") still retains its size and good values in the north end, but in the south end it has pinched, being now only a little over one foot in width.

Mr William Eddy, late of Greymouth, has purchased Ayers' Hotel, Westport, for £2OOO, lock, stock, and barrel. Bishop Brodie left by this morning's express for Christchurch. He will shortly proceed to Australia to attend a conference of the Hierarchy. 'The Rev. Dr. J. A. Kennedy, of Hokitika, left by the Otira express this morning, en route to Canada and the United States, where he will spend about six months.

Mr and Mrs J. W. Fair left Westport yesterday for Wellington, en route to the Old Country, on an extended business and holiday trip. MiFair was the recipient of two handsome presents from the Westport Tennis Club —a gold Eversharp pencil and a beautiful travelling clock.
