CARNATION GROWING. An interesting lecture upon the growing and care oMho carnation was delivered to a large number of horti-cultural-enthusiasts at Messrs Baker Bros ' office, Manchester street, last evening, by Mr Fox, of Wellington. The speaker prefaced his address by giving his hearers a number of useful hints on the preparation of displays for show purposes, and urged the need of securing more artistic ef-fects-in the exhibits made by nursery, men Ha also stressed the desirability of having an increased number of exhibits in the decorated tables classes. In speaking of carnations, Mr To: stated that the methods of producing these blooms in the Dominion were ouen ior a great deal of improvement. H P o stated that, to get the best results youne plants should be imported, and Cent on to detail the method of preparing carnations, and raising them for show purposes.
