Tlie physical conilrtibn of boye attending the Auckiand ; <jr'ammar bchool was reierred to by tlio rfetiring headmaster, Mr J. \Y. liobs, in 'his annual report. The question of' diet was one or tiie matters touched upon, and Air 'fibbs said that he regretted that the recent visit to the school of Dr. Truby King was necesearily a brief one, as he should have lined fuller opportunity of consulting him about several matters connected with the health of the boys. This was still, in too many cases, far from satisfactory, and the cause was largely due to errors in diet. "It# would be a great benefit to the community," said Mr Tibbs, "if Dr. King could be given an opportunity year by year to speak to the mothers of the boys on the subject of feeding their sons. He, more than any other man, could do something ,to ;ston the perversion from its proper, use of the food material with which we are so abundantly blessed in this go,od land of ours." . An amusing incident happened on Monday in connexion with the display of Christmas goods being made by one of the local tradesmen (sajs the Wanganui "Chronicle." For advertising purposes a fine looking Christmas pudding had been placed in the shop win- i dow, and it proved,,tfo be quite an at-! traction. Several customers had to be J advised that it 'was- nierely a dummy j imitation of the real puddings, and all i went well uptil a newly initiated shop ] assistant sold the dummy. Tho result j vru imagined than described. I When the boiling of- pudding com- ] S *+ been s ttlffed soon became soft, and with consternation the good i housewife saw her fine ljig " d u£F" !
