DEVELOPMENTS IN AVIATION.
INTERESTING POSSIBILITIES. "StrPER-GALES ,, I AND PILOTLESS 'PLANES. (By Okble—Press Awociation—Copyright.) (Australian stud N.Z. Cable Association.) (Beedved December 10th, SJS jun.) LONDON, December 9. The "Daily Chroniclo's" aeronautical correspondent reports that astonishing results are being obtained bj' wireless control of pilotless aeroplanes. Recent studies regarding the existence of vast " super-galeß" blowing nt an immense height may vastly quicken international communications. A pilot ascending 30,000 feet found himself in an air stream, rushing at 200 miles an hour. It is believed that these "super-gales" travel across the oceans at cyclone speed. Experiments are now being made in connexion with a small pilotless aeroplane to be guided by wireless into one of these cyclones, which will act as an automatic carrier at a speed of 250 to 300 miles an hour, carrying urgent documents from Europe to America in eight hours, or London to Pariß in one hour. [The message does not indicate what will happen if the pilotless aeroplane meets a "super-gale" blowing in the wrong direction.]
