The quarterly meeting of the Elleemere Licensing Committee was held at the L'ttle River Courthouse on Tuesday. Present— Messrs Magson, Macartney, Mulcock, Scott, and Parkinson. In the absence of Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., chairman, Mr Macartney was voted to the chair. The police reports were satisfactory. A permit was granted to Mrs T. M. Powell to carry on the business oj the Springfield Hotel for three months. Mr Hunter, solicitor, who appeared for the owners and licensee of the Canterbury Hotel, Methven, produced plans for rebuilding, and asked for permission to carry on the business in a temporary bar for a further six months. It was resolved that the chairman and Messrs Magson and Scott consider the plans, and that a permit be granted to carry on the business in a temporary bar for a further three months.
