In the country electorates, polling closes at 6 p.m. and in the citv end suburban electorates voting will be carried out till 7 p.m. The Christchurch Press Company has made full arrangements to acquaint the publio with the progress of the polling on both the electoral and Prohibition issues by means of a big bulletin board erected in front of "The Press" office. (■raCIAL TO "THE PBB8S.") GISBORNE, December 6. The" Giaborne seat may be regarded as fairly safe for Mr W. D. Lysnar, the Reform candidate. At the last election he polled 2P14 votes against 2555 registered by Sir James Carroll, and 2232 by Mr Thomas Brindle. Many of those who supported Sir James Carroll on personal and sentimental grounds will now support Mr Lyenar. Mr Wildish, (Mayor of Gie>borne) who is standing in the Lib.-Lab. interest, is a poor speaker and has failed to arouse enthusiasm during his campaign. He may win a few "votes frt.m those previously secured by Mr Brindle, but not sufficient to make'up for the defection of Sir James Carroll's supporters, who will now vote for Mr Lysnar. The Labour candidate is reputed to have a good following at the Wairoa end of the electorate, where there are many men employed on road and railv, ay works, but it is doubtful if he will exceed hie total at last election. It is a toss up wliether'he or Mr Wildish will be m oec«od placs.
