MONTHLY MEETING. The Lyttelton Harbour Board mot yesterday. Present: Mr J. Storey (chairman), the Hen. 11. More, M.L.C., Dr. Thacker, and Messrs F. Hcirrell, R. Macartney, W. K. MeAlpine, W. J. AValter, T. A. Blackloy, 11. Galbraith, and Captain H. Monro. x The Shipping Trouble. The chairman stated that the dislocation of trade owing to the strike of the seamen and firemen still continued, and its effects were indicated in tho shipping figures for the month. The engineer, Mr C. J. R. Williams, siated that when laid up ships were only liable to half due.-. Engineer's Report. Tho work oi raising the mole to the required now level had been continued. The report was adoptecj. Tinance Committee. On the roe. mnvnd. tin of the Finance. Committee, it was decided to invest in tho Rangiora County Council's oi per cent, electrical reticulation loan maturing on November 14th, 1932, the sum of on behalf of the Board's sinking fund, and £I2OO on behalf of the Board's (special renewal fund. It was reported that since the last meeting and!* up to November 30th, the sum of £7631 Os lOd had been paid into the Harbour Fund Account, tho principal iti'jns being: Wiisirlago £2159 7s lOd, pilotage £1096 7s 9d, port charges £7G4 l§s Id, berthage £591 ISs 10d, etorago and cold storage £82.3 lVs 3d, harbour improvement rate £l7-1.3 15s 9d, as compared with £9,032 4r> Id last year, which did not include tiie hire of electric cranes. In addition, th re were special receipts from sale of £150,000 loan debentures during the mcntli, amounting to £l3-50, and £651 lis refunds from the Marine Insurance Fund on account of tug Lyttelton and dredge launch, making the total r.'osipts fC'OS'? lis lOd ft.-r tb omonth of November. At a special meeting of the Board held prior to the, general meeting n by-law abolishing the harbour improvement rate as from January Ist was adopted.
