MR WILFORD'S CAMPAIGN.

VISIT TO SOUTH ISLAND.

Mr T. M. Wilford, Leader of the Liberal-Labour Party, left for Christchurch to-night.

Mr Wilford has received numerous requests to address meetings at different centres in the South, and as far as possible ho will comply with these. Ho has had a very busy week-end in Wellington. Mr Wilford stated to-day that reports which were coming to hand from various electorates were moro than satisfactory as far as his party was concerned.

The itinerary of the South Island tour has not yet been arranged, but Mr Wilford is 'likely to be absent from Wellington for some time.

DTJNEDIN NORTH. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) DUNBDIN, November 20. Mr J. J. Clark, Independent Reform candidate for Dunedin North, address--ed the electors to-night, receiving a food hearing. While supporting the leform Party against either of tlw other two parties as at present constituted, he reserved the rigiit to vote ho thought best. He was not opposed to tho inauguration of a State bank u a scheme based on sound financial lines, managed on proper business methods, and free from political control was propounded. He was a strong supporter of the Arbitration Court, and advocated co-partnership as a solution.of industrial problems. The candidate also strongly supported Prohibition. He advocated pensions for the blind, infirm, and iiged, and education and food for children. Mr dark was accorded a vote of thanks.

ME MASSEY AT OTAHUHU. (press association telegram.) AUCKLAND, November 20. To-night, Mr Massey addressed a crowded meeting at Otahuhu, which is in the new portion of the Frank-in electorate. There was at first some hostile industrialists, but the Prime Minister overwhelmed the intei'jectors, silencing them with references to revolutionary Socialism. He dealt with the expansion ■ of- secondary industries, and emphasised the necessity for the Government redeeming more 4J tax-ire© debentures. Other parts of the speech traversed his former statements, and be received a vote of thanks and confidence, CHBISTCHUBCH NOBTH.

. A crowded meeting greeted Mr Isitt last evening in Knox Church schonlr room, and for over an hour and a half he kept his audience more than interested. A strong contingent of opponents was present and lent liveliness to the proceedings. Half an hour's questioning followed, and a vote of thanks and confidence was moved by Mr Sinclair McKenzie, seconded by Mr J. E, Woodham. An amendment of thanks only resulted in a, show of a dozen hands, the motion being carried by the large audience with enthusiasm. Mr J. K. Archer, Labour candidate for 'Christchurch North, . addressed a meeting in the, Elm wood schoolroom last evening. There was an attendance 1 of about 50. On the motion of Mr Jones, the candidate was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. ■ Mr A. J. Day" presided.

The candidate spqke for two hours, devoting his remarks chiefly to Mr Holland's extreme Labour platform. He was accorded / a hearty vote of thanks. Mr H. C. Lane, Eef orm candidate for' Chri&tchurch South, addressed a meeting of electors at S. Michael's Schoolroom last night, .About 70 electors were present. Mr W. N. Seay was appointed chairman. Mr Lane's address was on similar lines to that delivered at, Somerfield. street. Twelve questions were asked and answered satisfaotorily. At the conclusion of the meeting a.vote of thanks to the candidate was carried unanimously. AVON. The Hon. O. W. Russell addressed a packed meeting last evening at the Methodist Hall. Mr Russelt spoke for two hours, and received a hearty vote of thanks and confidence. . Mr I>. G-. Sullivan, M.P:, Labour candidate for Avon, addressed the elector? of New Brighton in the Pier Hall last night. The Mayor (Mr J. Gamble) occupied tne chair. The hall was packed. Mr Sullivan was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence. Mrs A. E. Herbert addressed a meeting last night in the Linwood School, Mr J. Lindley presiding. The .candidate spoke mainly on the need for social legislation. Addresses in support of the candidate were given by Messrs Queree; J. H. Pugh, and W E. L*r,dl-y, Mrs Herbert being subsequently accorded a vote of thaxiks and confidence.
