PROHIBITION IN U.S.A.
ATTACK ON VOLSTEAD LAW.
LEGAL ACTION BY DOCTORS. (By Cable—Press (Australian and K.Z. Cable Association.) NEW YORK, November 19. A vigorous attack on the Volstead Law has been made by 106 leading physicians of New York, headed by l>r. Lambert, Bean Emeritus of the College of Physicians and Surgeons, the leading New York medical school.
The physicians have begun an action in the Federal Court against the provision of the law which interferes with physicians' prescriptions containing whisky, whioh is limited to a pint for each patient every ten days. The physicians claim that many lives have been endangered through this provision, which physicians are constantly violating for the sake of human life. They declare that the Volstead Law is one of the greatest interferences with the medical profession, and they will take the case to the United States Supremo Court.
