The annual conference of the New Zealand Association of Nurserymen will commence in Wellington in January next, when it is expected that the Prime Minister will open the proceedings. Many matters of great national interest will be considered. These will include effective plant quarantine, protection to the hyoridistj improved nursery practice, afforestation and nursery ! work, reduction of varieties of fruit and flowers by the elimination of all out of date sorts, etc., and higher horticultural education. Papers will be contributed by leading men within and without the nursery profession on matters bearing on the nurserv 9ide of horticulture. The conference will be under the presidency of Mr A. W. Buxton, of Cbristchurch.
