There wte a small attendance, but a large number of parishioners had previously signified their desire to see a club formed and to join it. After a full discussion It was resolved, on the motion of Mr C. E. Bremner, that a committee consisting of Messrs W. J. Keys, Walter Berry, P. Routledge, and Bremner interview the vicar and vestry and request that authority be given to church land between the parish hall and vicarage for the purpose of forming two tennis courts. The commercial travellers of South Canterbury with commendable unselfififtiness and enthusiasm, have decided to give a benefit at Timaru on Saturday next for the Bramwell Booth Salvation Army Home for Boys at Temuka. Timaru will be invaded on Saturday morning by a small army led by the Mayor of Temuka and the orphan boys, who will parade the town, acooinpanied by .the Temuka Pipe Band. The commercial travellers .will keep the main street in a state of siege, and the siege will be raised Avhen the wants of about Vo orphan boys have been supplied by tn<* generous people of Timaru. The boys themselves assist operations by gut-' ing, at Caroline Bay, an open-air concert and an exhibition of calisthenics. The travellers are already appealing for odds and ends such bs cheques and half sovereigns. ,
