METROPOLITAN SHOW.

The awards in the yearling bu 1 c as 3 of Jerseys were omitted from our c ~ tailed report. They were ae follows. R. Maddren 1, J. Fleming 2. Fivo entries. The W. B. Cunningham Shield for the champion Shorthorn cow was won by Mr W. M. Gabbie's Daisy 4th. The championships in the half-bred sheep section were as follows: Rams, L. Alacfarlane; reserve, A. G. Denton. Ewes, Sir George Clifford; reserve, Sir George" Clifford. The champion females in the Milking Shorthorn section were: Mental Hospital's Sunnyside Marion 3rd; reserve, 11. Peach's Duchess of Clydesdale Bank 2nd. The Now Zealand Friesian Association's South Island Challenge Cups for champion bull and cow were won by L. R. Stoddart'e Longbeach Big King and 11. Colec's Colinton Lorna respectively. BALCAIEN. A meeting of the Garden Party Committee and others was held in the school, seventeen being present. The Rev. Mr Harold, vicar, was in the chair. The vicar extended to those present an invitation to join with Smitlifield and Amberley in holding a combined gardetr party at Amberley in February, 1923. After discussion it -was decided to accept the vicar's invitation. It was then decided to hold a social at Balcairn on Friday, December Ist, instead of a garden party as originally arranged, and to asK those who had already began to make articles to send them to Amberley. BANGIOKA. In the final of the Flying Fifty Handicap Tournament, held on Thursday evening in the Grand Billiard Parlours, W. Watson defeated C. Ernshaw. PREBBLETON. . The annual church parade of the brass, band and the Oddfellows and Orange lodges topk place yesterday afternoon at AH Saints' Church. The new band instruments recently arrived from' England were used.. The lodges and visitors met at the library at 2.30 o'clock and matched to the church for service. The school concert, to be held on Friday next, seems assured of success. The whole of the items are to be given by the. local children, who are at present practisinghard. The jubilee celebrations of All Saints' < Will conclude on Saturday next , with a parochial picnio at Coe's Ford.
