The Pictures. "Schooldays," Wesley Btrry'e latest comedy, trill be screened at the Harbour Light Th«»tr» thi» afternoon and evening. The story is based on the famous song by Gus Edwards, and full 60ope is given the young oomedi&a. There is a first-class supporting programme, including a Vitagraph comedy and a Path* Gazette. The orchestra will play at the evening session. Bowing Club Opening. At a meeting of the Lyttelton Rowing l Club on Thursday night, it WBs decided that the club should hold its opening day on Saturday next, 18th inst. The opening ceremony will take place at 2.30 p.m., and races will commence _at 2.45. The Christchurch clubs wil* participate. Afternoon tea will be served to visitors, and the Lyttelton Marine Band will be in attendance. Seainen's Institute The concert this week was given by the Lyttelton Ladies' Guild, and several items by seamen. The evening was very much enjoyed, and closed with supper provided by the Guild ladies. Benefit Picnic. The benefit picnic, postponed from last Sunday, in aid of a Lyttelton railwayman who has been in ill-health for a long period, will be held ot Diamond Harbour to-morrow. The steaine* John Anderson will run trips at frequent intervals, commencing with the Lyttelton people at 9 a.m. Hot water, milk,, and. sugar will be provided, and the farts, Is €d return for admits and 6d for children, are estremely moderate. Trains leave Christchurch at 9.30 a.m. and 10.35 a.m., returning at 5.35 pjn. and 7 p.m. Mr McConibs's Candidature. Mr J. McComb? invites friends and supporters to meet him in tho Lyttelton Oddfellows' Hall on Monday night at 8.30. The Mayor (Mr W. T. Lester) will preside.
