WESTLAND'S WAR MEMORIAL.
> » CENOTAPH UNVEILED AT HOKITIKA. (PEESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) HOKITIKA, November 10. Westland's cenotaph, erected on Cass square, to the memory of two nurses and 186 soldiers of the district who fell in the war, was unveiled with fitting ceremony this afternodn by Colonel Young, of Christchurch. Heavy rain'interfered with the outdoor ceremony, which was made very brief, an adjournment being made to the Princess Theatre, where appropriate speeches were delivered. The inscription on the front of the memorial —'' We lie dead in many lands so that you may live here in peace"— formed the theme of most of the speakers, who included Colonel Young, Mr W. E. Leadley, the Mayor (Mr Perry), the Hon. H.L. Michel, MJi.C, and Mr T. E. Y. Seddon, M.P.
