In accordance with their previous decision not to accept the 48-hour week, coupled -with a. demand for an increase of wages to £1 a day, the cold storage employees at Homebush refused to work to-day. This rendered idle 300 slaughtermen. The strike does not affect local meat supplies, but will seriously affect the meat export trade.
