A very large kauri tree on the forest resenve, six miles from Te Aroha, has, it is reported, been ringbarked by someone probably intent upon collecting gum at a later date. The tree was a magnificent specimen, being quite Bft in diameter, with a straight barrel of nearly 80ft without a branch. It -was the most easily accessible of any of the large kauri trees in the neighbourhood.
