NEW BRIGHTON NOTES.

Birthday Socials. Over seventy guests assembled at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. Buxton, Sea View road, on the occasion of the coming of age of their eldest daughter, Eileen, who was the recipient of many beautiful birthday gifts. During the afternoon all manner of outdoor and parlour games were indulged in, while during the evening a very pleasing and enjoyable musical programme was provided. Amongst those present were: Rev. This coming ot" age of their eldest son, Leicester, was celebrated by Mr and Mrs Frank Ward, cf Lonsdale street, in the Pier Hall on Thursday even-ng, which was tastefully decorated lor the occasion. Supper, at which the Rev. C. Maclaverty presided, was served in the tea hall. The toast of 'JCur Guest" was proposed by Mr U. ». Bishop, and responded to by Mr L. Ward, while the toast of "Our Host and Hostess" was proposed by Mr Malaquin and replied to by Mr and Mrs Ward. Vocal and instrumental items were contributed bv Misses Grantham and MrWykes, while the music for the evening was supplied by Bailey's Banjo Orchestra. Among those present were: Mesdames F. Ward, A. Obituary. ■ The sympathy of the resident goes out to the relatives of the late Mrs Alice Hooker, whose death took place at her late residence. Sea View road, during the week. During the many years of residence, in New Brighton, the late Mrs Hooker was ever ready to help and assist the needy, and took a rery keen interest in local affairs.
