MACLAREN'S TEAM. SOUTH AUSTRALIA STAST WELL. (By Cable—Press Association—Copyrijk*.) (Australian and N.Z. Cable Association.) Received Xovember lOtix, 9.5 pjn-J' ADELAIDE, November 10. The weather was superb and there was one of Adelaide's best wickets for the cricket match. The attendance at the commencement was small, but it increased to 3000. Dolling won the toss and batted, Vic. Richardson and Arthur Richardson (not relations) going to the wickets. The bowling was not impressive, though Calthorpe kept the runs down. The batsmen commenced warily, the first fifty taking forty-one minutes. Subsequently Ijoth batsmen gave a brilliant display. At first Vic. Richardson was ulways ahead of his partner, but near luncheon Arthur began punishing the bowling severely. He continued his aggressiveness after lunch, and reached the century in ninety-fivti minutes. Vic. Richardson then went for the bowling, and also passed the century. Wien the score was 256 V. Riohardson hit Calthorpe to long-field, where Tyldeslev, running backwards and sideways, effected "a brilliant catch. Arthur Richardson, at 107, was missed off a tremendous hit at long-on boundary. When his score had reached | 150 Wilkinson, who had previously dropped Arthur, made amends with a finely-judged 1 catch. It is evident that the English bowlers had I not yet found their length or sting, and the batsmen were untroubled. The fielding was bnluant. Chapman, at cover-point, was marvellous.
