KENNEL CLUB.

ANNUAL SHOW.

The seventeenth annual elow of the Canterbury Kennel Club ra commenced at th» Show Grounds yesterday, and ■will be continued to-day. A perfect din of yapping assured that there wae no mistake about where the dogs were located. la every way the Show proved one of the moat successful the club ha» yet held. The entries were good and the quality of the dogs was such that the judges had difficult tasks in every section. The terriers were exceptionally good, and the winner of the any variety class was probably the finest ever exhibited at the club's shows. Nineteen dogs had been, entered, and any one was equal to winning at an average show. The cockers, especially the ooloureda, were a fine lot, and the blacks, if small in number, were high in quality. Setters and toy dogs were not numerous, but her© again tha quality was of a very high standard. The Airedales, of which there were many entries, were exceptionally good, and the winner of the any variety clase, Wairiki 'Wilhelmina, would hold her own in anv show. Considerable interest was taken in the Show, and there was a steady stream of visitors through the building and watching the judging *.U day. The judges were: —Working sheep doge, Major Stafford; all terrisrs. Mr P. W. Wilson: tovs, Mr Norman "Wade; all other breeds, Major Stsfford. The awards so far made are as follows: WHIPPETS.
