Liverpool on December 16th, being duo at Auck.and about January 30th. What is regarded as a dangerous find was made on a recent trawl off Botany Bay by the State trawler Brolga, in about fifty fathoms of water. On investigation it was found that the object was a depth charge similar to many which had been deposited in the ooean over twelve months ago by one of the mine sweepers. The dangerous cap attached to depth charges had been removed, but the drum still contained a quantity of high explosive, and a test is to be made to determine whether the object is of such a nature as to explodo in the event of percussion. It appears that the mina sweepar H.M.A.S. Marguerite, in order to rid tho naval stores of the depth charges, about luO in number, dropped them into the sea at a distance of over three miles from the coastline off Sydney Heads, in September of last year. Before this was dons, however, the caps were removed. Owing to a southerly set IB currents off the coast of New South Wales, varying at different times-of the year, it is considered likely that the depth charges had moved in the same direction, and that the find made by the trawler Brolga is one of the' depth charges dropped by the .marguerite.
