»— MONTHLY MEETING. Tlio monthly business meeting of the New Zealand Utility Poultry Club was heldl on Tuesday nigiht. In tho absence of the president, Mr W. A. Geo -was voted to the chair. Arising out of a statement made by a member regarding advertisements as to certain birds having won the winter egg test, tho secretary stated that the instruction given at tho previous meeting—that the advertiser be written to and requested to discontinue making tho announcement referred to—had been overlooked, but would be attended to. The schedule for tho 1923-1924 competitions was submitted. Mr J. D. Gobbe reported, regarding the Ycung Bird Show, that the dates had been fixed for March 23rd and 24th, 1923. If permission could be obtained, Messrs Blown and C i.ss-en, Government experts, would be the judges. Extra classes for fancy and gi-me had been included, with the object of getting fancy and game breeders interested in the The schedule of the show, which was included in tho schedule for tho competition, .\ as read. Mr Gobbe stated that the Duck Club had presented! ribbons and first prize certificates for the duck classes; the club would! also provide judgeß; the same would be -done itt respect of the game class*®. _ , - It was reported that the following speoiaJ piizes for the egg-laying competitions had bean given:—Messrs McCllatchie and Co. 20s. iVew Zealand Clothing Company IDs 6d, and Messrs Ashby, Bergh and Co. trophy .valued at £1 Is. A committee, consisting: cf Messrs H. W t . Beck (president), G. J. Wilkius, "W. H. West, H. Williams, J. B. Merrett, and W. E. Green, was set up to go into the question of obtaining additional special prizes. ■ The schedule was adopted. The caretaker reported that during October the weather was very warm, with muggy snd dry days. The liot weather had affected seme of tho diucka. The light breeds h&d done well, but there were a lew broodies among3t them* the heavy breeds had been very broody. "The number of egg* e**nt to market during the month was dozen hens', and 58 dozen ducks', Dead uirds were found in pens 116, No. 1 biral, and £6, No. 1 bdrd. Duck No. 2 in pen 130 had started laying softs. The report was adopted.
