A well-known figure in Fiji disappeared recently when Mr Michael Bugler jumped from the King's wuari with a lump of cast iron tied round his waist, and was drow-ned. He was seen to calmly walk to the edge of vue wharf, pause for a moment, and then jump into the water, which at this spot is alb out 30 feet deep. The late Mr iiugler was a native of Ireland, and came to Fiji in the early 'eighties. He entered the banana trade, and brought fruit from Rewa, Navua, and elsewhere, having a fleet of punts and a sternwheel steamer called the Roko. Dur.n the 'eighties ho was the largest shipper of bananas out of Fiji, and was known far and wide as the Banana King. He made a competency and retired to Syd- ! ney, where he entered business, but lost all his money, and later returned to Fiji.
