It is not, very often that a municipality can 'dispose of a loan at a premium, but this has been accomphsued by the Borough Council, which succeeded, without any effort on its part, in disposing of debentures' totalling £5400 at £lOl (states the Wanganui ''Herald"). There were more applicants for these debentures, at the price mentioned, than could be entertained for the amount at the disposal of the council; This state of affairs is particularly satisfactory, for it shows that there ia still plenty of money available for investment in first-class securities. It also shows that the credit of the borough still stands high, and the town possesses citizens whose faith in. **a future they are prepared to endorse in a substantial way.
