The deputation also asked thait a race on the School road, Dnnsandel, be re-graded.— This request was also erantcd. Cr. McEvedy mentioned that Inwood's Dip road was not in satisfactory condition. Works Committee and enginoer to inspect. The engineer reported that the Council was now in full control of the new fishing reserve at the RaJcaia, river mouth. He wished to acknowledge the assistance given 'o this matter by th<! Commissioner of "rown Lands (Mr G. H. Buliard). The stibidies asked for public works in the county liad all been granted by- the Government. Altosether £538 had been plaoed on the Public 'Works Estimates. It was pointed out that the clerk to the Kllesmere Licensing Committee received a salary of £3O .per annum, whereas the clerk *o the Riccarton Licrmsin? rnmived only £l3 18s. .Members thought £3O for four imeetrngg very handsome payment, considering that much of *he work was done bvHhe respective country clerks.
