Wheat—Cargoes are iu good dema-m), and prices aro occasionally higher. A shipment of 7500 tons in a steamer, January-February, sold at BOs. Flour —T!iore is a moderate demand.^ Barley—The market is firm, and there is a fair enquiry for shipment. Oats—The market is firm, and pricc3 aro tending upwards. Sugar—Granulated, 50a 6d per cwt. Tha Colonial Office has been investigating' tho depression in the rubber grov/ing industry, and has issued a report which l»r Churchill has approved. The report recommends a restricted output by Coylon, the Federal States, and tho Malay States, and tho Straits Settlements on a sliding scale, which will ba calculated on a three months' 'period until the price of rubber averages 15(1 per pound. Tho first etage will ba the authorisation of the export, not exceeding CO per cent, of the standard production, at a minimum export duty. The proposals will require tho approval of the colonies concerned. Several British cstateß in tho Dutch East) Indiea have offered to co-operate voluntarily in the restriction of output. Owing to the Colonial Office approving the scheme to restrict the output of robber, in order to raise the price of Ceylon and Ma-lay and Straits Settlement rubber, prices rose about ljd for standard crops, spot selling at 9Jd to 10$ d per lb.
