VISIT OF BEVY D. J. O'STOiMVAH". Rev. D. J. O'Suljivan, of the Society of African Missions of Lyons, whose name will be remembered, in connexion with interesting church addresses and lectures delivered here in kid of the African Missions some 13 years ago, and Who 'is now a guest at the Catholic Cathedral Presbytery, p'teached at each of the services in the Cathedral yeaterdaj and, in the. evening, delivered a lecture at Vespers in the Catholic. .Church, at Aldington. • the missionary - organisation which Father O'Sullivan represents has its r centres at Lyons,.: France, and; at Cork, Ireland;/and :its two. fields .of labour in West Africa said \ia. Lower Egypt: ' The Society nas, prominently identified itself with these' regions for nearly seventy years, Father O'Sullivan is a native of Cork,' .Ireland;.and only a Jew months ago was etill in the midst of those, conditions which are now making history in the Irish Free State; During a membership'of more than 30 years in hia Order he. has been at various intervals deputed as its representative " to * English-speaking countries. His lecture tqurs" have included / the United States, England, Ireland, Australia; New Zealand - and Tasmania, and have-occasioned 22 voyageß across : the Atlantic. 18 on the Mediterranean and seven oh the Indian Oc£an between : Egypt,.' and. : Australia, together ' with dozens ,of shorter, sailings on the Southern Seas. . THe financial'results of-these many missions have been among the '\ principal elements which have enabled his confreres 'to build up nine dioceses .along the Western Coast of tropical Africa, in the basin of the Niger riverand in, Egypt. Dean Bowers, Administrator of the diocese of ChristchurchV and of the local rectors, he will'preach • and lecture in" several centres'of Canterbury within the nest few weeks in aid of the '*African missions ( which he eenis.
